A little introduction. I'm Alasdair Turner, otherwise known as Ali, a Piper, Guitarist and Fiddler from Ross-Shire in the Highlands of Scotland though now living in Glasgow via Benbecula.

My interest in music was initially sparked by classes organised by Fèis Rois; Fiddle with Alpha Munro and then Guitar with Mike Simpson and Dagger Gordon. I learnt Piping through Highland Council's Schools Music Tuition with Niall Matheson.

Through these organisations and tutors I was given many opportunities to learn from a diverse selection of traditional musicians, to build a wide repertoire of traditional music and to meet a group of people of my own age with the same interests.

After Highers I studied Music at Benbecula College and I am now studying for my B.A. (Hons) in Applied Music, BAAM, at the University of Strathclyde. Since moving to Glasgow I have joined the Grade 1 Pipe Band. Torphican and Bathgate and enjoy sessioning on Guitar at many of Glasgow’s music venues.

Throughout this website you will find links to many Traditional Musicians and their music. Enjoy and please use the site as a resource for Traditional Music.
